Internship Post 10

Dates:  7/19/17 - 7/21/17 Activities:  updating on my work, editing Intranet pages, Technical Information: OpenText TeamSite Reflection: There was an ice cream social! Dymir and I went to the cafeteria of the other campus and had ice cream along with all the other Lenovo interns including Scotty and Shounak. On my last day, I did work as normal, somebody from another department emailed me asking what I had worked on these past few weeks so I could transfer my current works to him so he could continue on them. Mr. David also gave me one last page to edit which was simple changing links and editing some information on the page. Mr. Terufumi also gave me content to upload but he asked that I used the test mode instead to make sure it was accurate before letting it go live on the intranet. I used the test mode after inputting the information and sent him the link but he didn't have access so in the end I decided to just screenshot the page and send it to him before I submitted

Dates:  7/14/17 - 7/18/17 Activities: Intern collab event, worked onwebpages, product tour Technical Information:  OpenText TeamSite Reflection:  From 10:30-11:30 there was a ThinkPlace Product Showcase Tour, which basically was a walkthrough of Lenovo's top products. I know it's all a marketing ploy, but wow, Lenovo has some really incredible products. Not to advertise, but Yoga is super incredible and the technology for the newest X1 Yoga, how the keyboard flattens for ease of access when using tablet mode, really incredible. And the other laptops where you can handwrite in a notebook and have it copied down on onenote or whatever program. And the Moto is really cool too, all the mods(?) that you can add to your Moto like a battery mod, the extremely professional camera mod, the speaker mod, and the projector mod. Really innovative and honestly, who doesn't love customizable products. Even if the interface for a Moto is different than my Iphone, I think I could get

Internship Post 8

Dates:  7/11/17 - 7/13/17 Activities: CTG / NAF intern event Technical Information: none Reflection: The days pass slower than before, what with the only project left being the main project of updating the Intranet pages and having no content to upload. The intern event was Tuesday. It started in the Hero Room behind the cafeteria at about 9:30. I arrived at around that time (possibly later) and because it was in building 8 whereas I work at building 1, I had no idea where I was going. I waited for my fellow intern and fellow AOIT classmate, Scott, and another intern, Dymir, before heading in. The Hero Room was already packed with interns, students and adults alike, and the event started by taking NAF interns to tour a lab. We walked to building 7 and went to the Work Station & Performance Lab which showcased cool tech including VR and hardware for stations etc. Then we returned to building 8 for another tour in Green Solutions Center, which was hardware maintenance (?) a

Dates:  7/6/17 - 7/10/17 Activities: CTG / NAF intern event, Make new page on Intranet Technical Information: OpenText TeamSite Reflection: The internship coordinator at Lenovo, or one of many at least, had organized an event called Intern Round Table set for July 11th. He informed us that we would be making introductions and gave us a slide template for us to fill out that said our name, school, intern position, what we learned, what we contributed to, and fun facts. On Friday, Mr. Dave sent me a few powerpoints on some really helpful e-commerce tips. They're super informative about advertising and taking cautions in social media and purchasing. He's actually been incredibly helpful during my stay here, what with him trying to get in contact with those from other departments so I can get more experience, and even sending me powerpoints on his own time. For Mr. James' privacy page on the legal team's section of the Intranet, I had to make a new page

Internship Post 6

Dates: 7/3/17 - 7/5/17 Activities: Cataloging files Technical Information:  Memotech Reflection: We had 2 days off for July 3rd and 4th. I got back on the 5th and the office was pretty empty because many people took off the whole week for vacation. There wasn't a lot for me to do that Wednesday so I helped Ms. Valeria catalog things to Memotech. Its yet another time-consuming task because I have to upload each individual file. I notice this recurring pattern actually: uploading each file individually because of the need to categorize each file separately. It's extremely time-consuming and requires a lot of patience, which I am slowly learning. My first time working with Ms. Valeria was possibly worse than now, simply because the first time involved heavy lifting. There were physical patents I had to categorize by type and date and the packets themselves were pretty heavy, especially when combined. But after the first Friday, everything else involving Memotech was just

Dates: 6/28/17 - 6/30/17 Activities: Small tasks and transferring to FINDit Technical Information: OpenText TeamSite, FINDit, Microsoft, Memotech Reflection:  The latter half of the week was simple, Mr. John sent me a document of who the content owners for each webpage would be and asked me to refine the document, just make it look more readable and understandable. Simple enough. I also added some documents onto the Intranet pages which was challenging to say the least. It was difficult figuring out how to upload documents so I could link it on the page but with a few hours and the training manual, I figured it out. I then had a meeting with Mr. James on Thursday to talk about what would be done with the privacy pages on the Intranet. He told me that there would be a separate page in another location on the Intranet but I could start with the smaller page right under the legal team's sections. After the meeting, I finished up transferring the FINDit documents and Ms. Kim f

Internship Post 4

Dates: 6/23/17 - 6/27/17 Activities: Cataloging files and transferring to FINDit Technical Information: Memotech, FINDit Reflection: The days are slower what with many of legal team still too busy to provide content for me to upload. Much of my time is still occupied by transferring files to FINDit. There are really only two kinds of file types I upload them as: external vs. internal. Ie. files that are accessible to clients to sign vs. files that are for Lenovo viewing purposes only. The uploading process itself is what requires the longest amount of time, it entails uploading the document then naming it with a description, then classifying as internal or external and the specific type for example Agreements or Guides, then through to languages and countries. The internship definitely meets my expectations/objectives and actually goes above and beyond such. It was written in the description of the position that I would learn to use a certain software (OpenText TeamSite) an
