Activities: Receive training on website usage
Technical Information: OpenText TeamSite, FINDit
Reflection: Although my position is a legal intern under Lenovo, I am actually employed under CTG to Lenovo. A contractor of indirect labor. Therefore, on my first day, I and my fellow interns attended an orientation to get to know CTG managers and the other interns. After orientation we were handed off to our Lenovo teams, mine being the legal department. I was greeted by Ms. Gina who then passed me off to Mr. John, Legal Department Chief of Staff, better known as my manager/supervisor. He introduced me to many people around the office and told me my overall tasks for the internship, to maintain and update the legal team's pages on the Lenovo Intranet.
The next day I received training from Mr. Shane for OpenText TeamSite, a web content management software that Lenovo uses for their Intranet pages. I will be using this software for the duration of my internship period to update the legal pages and any other that fall in the category. I also met with Ms. Kim who gave me another small project to work on: transferring files from the intranet to another website for easier access to the documents. I continued to get a feel for the office job and working in a real-life environment and I also met with Ms. Carol in which we talked about the current legal team's Intranet pages; its strengths and weaknesses.
Lenovo is a massive company that designs, develops, and sells technology such as laptops, computers, tablets, smartphones, servers, and televisions. It operates in more than 60 countries and sells its products in more than 160 countries and its customers include schools, other companies, and individuals. My position as a legal intern was defined as updating and improving the legal departments web pages as well as reviewing and organizing files, all of which I do during the week. I work with the legal team and others affiliated with this department and I also meet fellow high school interns and meet new coworkers. I'm looking forward to gaining more from this experience!
