Internship Post 2
Dates: 6/15/17 - 6/19/17
Activities: Go over responsibilities for projects
Technical Information: OpenText TeamSite, FINDit, Memotech
Reflection: I met with my boss/manager Mr. John and he went over, in detail, my responsibilities for the maintenance of the Intranet pages. I would be receiving content from the people around the legal team and update the pages with their content. I also met with Ms. Kim and worked on updating a training powerpoint to later upload to FINDit. The Friday of my first week, I still didn't have much to do so I helped Ms. Valeria categorize and upload files onto Memotech, a virtual filing cabinet of sorts. It was tedious work, uploading each file individually since it was all the website was capable of doing, but it kept me busy for the whole 8 hours. I now feel bad for whoever (probably Ms. Valeria) had been doing it alone in the past.
On Monday I started receiving more and more emails about the main project, updating the Intranet pages, and other side projects like transferring to FINDit. I also talked with Mr. Mark, who managed content on the sustainability web pages, just within the legal department. He gave me the task of changing each Lenovo link to a newer, updated version of their website. Less tedious than uploading numerous files one by one onto Memotech, but still challenging trying to find each link that led to the older Lenovo website.
The work atmosphere in my department is quiet but diligent. Decisions are made by individuals but overseen by Mr. John. It's cooperative but independent. Dress code for my department is more professional than most other teams in Lenovo. Walking around the building I see many teams dressed in jeans but in my department it's almost always a button up and slacks and the occasional casual-Friday apparel. I like the work atmosphere and work ethic of the legal department, it feels extremely professional and I enjoy it.
